
Strategic Porfolio Manager
About the role
The Strategic Porfolio Manager will be responsible for implementing and maintaining a unified, data-driven perspective of Viralgen’s entire program portfolio, including both internal initiatives and key strategic priorities. This role in the Strategy and Business Excellence department is critical for ensuring organizational visibility, robust governance, and informed decision support at the highest levels, as well as enhancing Viralgen’s strategic execution and operational effectiveness.
The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical abilities, expertise in achieving cross-functional alignment, and substantial experience in overseeing programs or portfolios within scientific, technical, or manufacturing environments.
Responsabilities
Portfolio Governance & Strategic Alignment
- Implement and maintain portfolio management processes and tools, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy.
- Keep an updated view of the internal portfolio and standardize methodologies, KPIs, and reporting.
- Support prioritization and monitoring of functional and cross-functional portfolios.
- Prepare reports and materials for leadership reviews and strategic planning sessions.
- Facilitate clear communication of priorities and dependencies across teams.
Data Analytics & Reporting
- Develop and maintain dashboards and analytical tools to track project status, capacity, risks, and performance.
- Perform scenario modeling and data-driven analysis to guide resource allocation and portfolio decisions.
Strategic Planning & Business Excellence
- Contribute to annual and quarterly planning, including forecasting and business case development.
- Assess new business opportunities for feasibility and strategic fit.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes, governance, and operational efficiency.
Skills & Qualifications
- PhD in Life Sciences, Engineering, or related field preferred; Master’s degree considered.
- Experience in CDMO operations and/or gene therapy (AAV strongly preferred).
- Background in consulting—particularly in strategy, operations, or business transformation—is a strong asset.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and program/portfolio management tools.
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and influence decisions in a matrixed environment.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and strategic thinking capabilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
